Empowering Women through ICT Training

Program Overview: On November 5, 2017, the “My Internet My Income” initiative was launched under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, with support from Comjagat Technologies. This initiative aimed to empower women by leveraging digital skills for income generation. Attendees of the launch included Honorable State Minister for Women and Children Affairs, Begum Meher Afroz Chumki MP, among other distinguished officials.

Two websites—aiaa.gov.bd and womenfreelancer.gov.bd—were developed for seamless learning and freelancing. These platforms offer comprehensive resources, including 154 video tutorials, interactive study materials, and exam modules to track progress.

Program Reach and Structure

The training, initially covering 8 districts, expanded nationwide, ultimately reaching 2,304 women across all 64 districts. Training included six months of blended learning, consisting of:

  • 22 Online Live Classes
  • 6 Days of In-Person Training
  • 4 Months of Online Support

Project Objectives

The program focused on cultivating women freelancers and entrepreneurs to:

  • Enhance ICT knowledge for self-reliance
  • Facilitate access to international job markets
  • Encourage income generation from home
  • Support economic and social development through ICT-based skills

Achievements

  1. Developed aiaa.gov.bd—a dedicated training platform with structured learning materials.
  2. Created womenfreelancer.gov.bd—an online marketplace where trained women can connect with global employers.
  3. Distributed freelancing guidebooks, provided certificates, and subsidized internet access to trainees.
  4. Built ICT proficiency in key areas, including Digital Marketing, SEO, and Graphic Design, allowing participants to operate on an international scale.
  5. Equipped women with the skills to contribute to their families and communities, strengthening their businesses in response to challenges like COVID-19.
